| The Hotel Majestic was constructed in 1902 as the private residence of Milton Schmidt, a turn of the century railroad magnate and member of the California State Legislature. Two years later, in 1904, Senator Schmidt moved on and the building became the Hotel Majestic. Two years after that, the Great Earthquake of 1906 struck. The terrible fires that ravaged the city halted at Van Ness Avenue, two blocks from The Majestic. This stroke of luck has made The Majestic San Francisco's oldest continually operating hotel.
Throughout the years, The Majestic has been a refuge from the bustle of Union Square and the Financial District, offering travelers sanctuary in the quiet of a Pacific Heights neighborhood. Over the years as San Francisco has changed, The Majestic has kept pace but never lost sight of its unique architectural heritage and Edwardian ambiance.

ACCOMMODATION: The Hotel Majestic has 3 types of rooms to fulfill the different needs of its many guests. The Hotel Majestic has nine One Bedroom Suites each with a four-poster King-size bed and large living rooms. The bathrooms are spacious and offer double sink vanities with Gilcrest & Soames amenities. All suites have gas fireplaces, large closet space, two televisions and plenty of room to relax.
Junior Suites offers a choice of either a four-poster canopy Queen size beds or 2 two poster Twin size beds. You can savor the past in this beautiful rooms accented with gas fireplaces, small refrigerators and a cozy sitting area. Most of these rooms have the old fashioned claw-footed tubs.
Our Superior rooms are beautifully decorated with English or French antiques and beautiful spreads. You can close your
door to the world and enjoy the peaceful Edwardian ambiance in these cozy rooms. Most of these rooms have full baths with a tub or shower and many with claw-footed bathtubs. The Superior rooms offer a choice of a double, queen or 2 twin
size beds. |
