The Island Hideaway is a new luxury boutique spa resort and marina development situated on the beautiful virgin island of Dhonakulhi, North Maldives, Indian Ocean. Our resort, with 6 types of spectacular guest villas, is due to open for the June 2005 season. Our marina is the first of its kind in the Maldives.
Our guest villas are scattered along the beach and tucked into the lush greenery, providing the ultimate in privacy. Our design is a celebration of nature. Designed as an intimate, luxurious resort with exceptional levels of attention to detail and service standards, we have planned to develop in phases 41 guest villas, 2 spa water villas, 2 exotic restaurants, spa, theatre, diving base and water sport centre, state-of-the-art gym, tennis and badminton courts, and swimming pools.
Dhonakulhi Island, with a beach length of some 3,200 meters around the Island, is a haven of peace, tranquillity and serenity. The crystal clear turquoise waters of the shallow waist-deep lagoon surrounding. Our Island's uniquely rich and dense vegetation instill a feeling of harmony and being at one with nature. Guests can choose to arrive at The Island Hideaway either by a 35-minute scenic photo-flight from the international airport at Malé, the capital of the Maldives, or by an exhilarating four hour speedboat trip. Guests may also fly-in on seaplanes or private jets, or cruise their yachts direct to the Island’s fully-equipped world class marina. |

Hideaway
Palace
Breathtaking in their design, the Hideaway Palaces are the epitome
of privacy and exclusivity. Ideal for the more discerning guests,
the Hideaway Palace is a compound of 1,420 square meters housing
individual pavilions for living area, master bedroom, 2 guest
rooms and a dining pod. The pavilions are raised on a wooden
deck and surrounded by a number of swimming pools. The private
beach area is adjacent to the beautiful natural sandbank.
Spa Water Villa
The Spa Water Villas are a first of their kind in the Maldives.
A stay in these havens of peace and serenity will leave our
guests fresh, revitalised and rejuvenated. Spread over 235 square
meters, the Spa Water Villas have their own exclusive sauna,
steam room, jacuzzi and in-villa spa treatment facilities.
Jasmine Garden Villa
The exotic Jasmine Garden Villas are a spectacular expanse of
705 square meters of land that you can call entirely your own.
Each Villa has its own exclusive swimming pool, garden and private
beach area. Guests may intimately dine in their dining pavilion
situated on a ‘mini-island’ in the compound.
Dhonakulhi Residence
Lapped by the balmy waters of the Indian Ocean, our Dhonakulhi
Residences are scattered along the white sandy beach front of
the Island Hideaway. Each Residence, in a compound of over 550
square meters, has a living and dining pavilion annexure, together
with a roof-top terrace and splash pool with jacuzzi.
Rambaa Retreat Villa
Spread over 385 square meters, our elegantly rustic Rambaa Retreats
with their open terraces and landscaped gardens, offer the perfect
seclusion for a peaceful retreat.
Funa Pavilion
Our Funa Pavilions are 176 square meters of luxury and solitude.
The Funa Pavilions feature separate bedroom and lounge areas,
outdoor bathrooms and wooden terraces on the beachfront.

Whatever
takes your fancy and whatever the time of day or night, our
chefs remain entirely at your disposal. They can conjure up
a myriad of succulent dishes to tempt your sensations and
satisfy any taste.
Guests may choose to dine in the privacy of their villas or
savour the pleasures of our two restaurants. Our sandy-floored
Matheefaru Restaurant offers international and Maldivian cuisine,
and our Gaafushi Restaurant is an Asian and seafood speciality
with Teppanyaki grills. We also offer sandbank barbecues and
beach grills, and guests may enjoy snacks and sip cocktails
at our poolside Meeraa bar and theatre.

focal point of our Island is the exclusive and unique Spa,
offering complete serenity, relaxation and well-being. The
treatments and therapies by the highly experienced staff aim
to achieve total peace and tranquillity, set in luxurious

We have 8 treatment rooms, exotic fruit bar, saunas, steam
rooms and a state-of-the-art gym.
The
Island Hideaway Spa will be operated by the internationally-acclaimed
spa company, Mandara Spa. The name "Mandara" comes
from an ancient Sanskrit legend about the gods' quest to find
the elixir of immortality and eternal youth. Mandara Spa,
originating in Bali, has embraced this legend. |
Dive
in Uncharted Waters with Meridis. The Maldives is famed for
its rare underwater beauty. The profusion of psychedelic colours
and the abundance and variety of life underwater have fascinated
divers and snorkellers since Maldives was first discovered
as a diving destination.
Our Island is situated in an Atoll which is at the moment

be able to dive where no man has dived before.
Operated by Meridis, our Dive Base has full Nitrox diving
facilities and audio-visual classrooms. PADI-certified instruction
is given by multi-lingual dive experts to beginners, amateurs
and experienced divers alike on the importance of safe and
enjoyable diving intertwined with the protection of the marine
environment. From to manta rays, moray eels to white tip sharks,
a whole new world of magnificent marine creatures awaits you. |
